Maruti Suzuki has released the teaser of the upcoming all-new Swift, which is scheduled to launch in India on May 9. Bookings are now open with a token amount of Rs 11,000, available online or at the dealership. The revised exterior and interior of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift:
The new Swift retains its familiar shape and stance, including a bulbous nose and rounded surfaces, making for an evolutionary design compared to the existing model. Sources suggest that the India-spec Swift will have unique bumpers and alloy wheels, along with a slight increase in length while maintaining the same wheelbase.
The interior of the Swift is fresh but recognisable, with the same components as the Baleno and the FrontX. While some dashboard panels and the housing for the 9.0-inch touchscreen may vary slightly, elements like the infotainment unit, HVAC controls, steering wheel and door switchgear remain familiar. Expect advanced safety features, which will probably include six airbags and ESP as standard.
Powertrain and specifications of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift:
One of the most exciting updates in the new Swift is its all-new powertrain. It is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which replaces the previous K12 four-cylinder engine. The company is aiming for higher fuel efficiency while maintaining the same power and torque outputs as the existing model (90hp and 113Nm).There is a possibility of mild-hybrid technology. It is unclear whether Maruti will continue with the AMT or upgrade to a 6-speed torque converter seen in other models.

After launch, the new Swift will compete with Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago and Citroen C3. Prices are expected to increase marginally compared to the existing model, ranging from Rs 6.24 lakh to Rs 8.83 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki recently increased the prices of the outgoing Swift, strategically positioning the new model as a more affordable option.
